Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an enriching learning environment which promotes the flourishing of all.
Our Vision

Our vision is deeply rooted in love, unlocking potential and opening doors through our Christian foundation.
We aim to:
- Be a beacon to the wider community, guiding others and shining light on one another to live well together. (I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. - John 8 v 12)
- Create well-rounded individuals, who flourish and celebrate life in all its fullness, through a broad and balanced curriculum and wider opportunities, developing wisdom, knowledge and skills. (I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. - John 10 v 10)
- Treat each person as a unique individual, celebrating differences and showing dignity and respect for all. (I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. - Psalm 139 v 14)
- Join together on the same path, whatever the starting point, to guide one another to fulfil our full potential, with hope and aspiration. ("For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29 v 11)
Our Values
Our Rainbow Values underpin all we do:
- Acceptance (Accept one another, then, just as Christ has accepted you. - Romans 15 v 7)
- Honesty (Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. - Philippians 4 v 8)
- Happiness (Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37 v 4)
- Perseverance (And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. - Hebrews 12 v 1)
- Forgiveness (Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. - Luke 6 v 37)
- Responsibility (Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others. - Philippians 2 v 4)
- Respect (So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. - Matthew 7 v 12)
Spirituality
Spirituality influences all we do at Farnsfield St Michael's: it is what breathes life into our whole school community and enables us to live life in all its fullness. Here, spirituality is who we are at our deepest level. It is about our relationships with ourselves, our communities, our world and our God.
At FSMP, living out our school mission statement 'love to learn, learn to love' means we are always giving children opportunities to grow spiritually, become aware of the world in new ways and to wonder about all of life's different facets.
As a Church of England school, our spirituality is expressed through our understanding of the Christian Gospel, rooted in the person of Jesus Christ. We fully respect that our children belong to Christian families, families of other faiths, and families of no faith, and that they will hold beliefs and values of their own. Our aim is to enable all children to reflect deeply on what it means to be human and to ascribe meaning and value to human existence.
Spiritual development relates to fundamental questions about the purpose and meaning of life, which affect everyone. Whilst these questions are not dependent on religious affiliation, as a church school, we set them within a Christian framework, encouraging all to have a positive approach to life and build hope for the future.
We describe spirituality as finding God in all things. We want our children to become aware of God, of one another and the world around them. We aim to nurture the inner life of our children, encouraging and embracing their questions, doubts and the wonder of existence. We want our children to reflect on what it means to be in a relationship with God and to develop their awareness of God's presence with them.
Spirituality can also be described as an appreciation of what is good, joyful, truthful and beautiful, and in relationship with others, of what is generous, creative and loving. The spirit of a person is seen in acts of courage and perseverance, in dealing with both setbacks and success, in endeavour and enquiry. Spirituality is something fundamental in the human condition. It is to do with the universal search for individual identity and truth, and can often be found in our challenging life experiences.
Spiritual learners become increasingly aware of the concept of beyond - a growing relationship with the transcendental and the ability to explore experience beyond the every day. The search for meaning in their very existence and their place in the greater scheme of things.
